Description | Mr Peart's visit to the US and his meetings with the Secretary of Agriculture Mr Butz on confectionery quotas and general agricultural issues including agricultural objectives in the EEC negotiations, multilateral trade negotiations. Notes from a meeting with Ambassador Eberle, Special trade representative on the continue lack of progress on the GATT Article XXIV negotiations which in turn delay the passage of the Trade Bill as well as difficulties within the EEC. Eberle also discussed the World Food Conference. Notes from a meeting with Secretary Butz on UK involvement within the EEC and the adoption of more liberal policies. Mr Peart also met with Mr Malmgren the Executive Director of the Council on International Economic policy and Mr Flanigan. |
